Restoration services

Every sword is different. Below is the work done most often. Tell us what you have and we will recommend the right approach.

01

Professional Grip Rewraps

The signature service. Grips are rewrapped in period-correct wire and leather while still mounted, so the finished hilt has no visible seam and feels exactly like the original. Twisted brass, coiled copper, and silver wire matched to the piece.

02

Blade Straightening

Bent and sprung blades straightened with techniques that respect the temper and patina of the original steel.

03

Scabbard & Leather Repair

Scabbard dents removed, throats and drags repaired or replaced, and leather scabbards restored to a sound, authentic finish.

04

Original & Reproduction Parts

A worldwide-sourced inventory of original and reproduction sword parts: grips, pommels, guards, twisted brass and copper wire, scabbard throats, drags, and mounts for Civil War and antique swords.

05

Blade Engraving & Etching

Custom etched and engraved blade work in period-correct fonts and styles, for restoration or presentation pieces.

06

Full Restoration & Patina Matching

Comprehensive restoration using original period materials or sourced replacement stock, with patina matching so new work blends invisibly into the antique. It is not uncommon to double or triple the value of a sword with a modest investment.
